How to Install ETC in a Private Car?
1 Answers
There are generally two ways to install ETC in a private car: self-installation and assistance from ETC service point staff. Self-installation: Clean the front windshield to ensure the glass surface is smooth, clean, and dry. Then, peel off the OBU adhesive protective film, attach the ETC device to the "microwave window" area behind the rearview mirror on the vehicle's front windshield, and press firmly for 2-3 minutes to remove any air bubbles. Alternatively, you can have it installed at service points such as bank branches, online service centers, or highway service areas. Required documents for application: The vehicle owner must provide original and photocopies of their valid ID card and vehicle registration certificate. If the application is made by a proxy, the proxy's valid ID card is also required. The photocopy of the vehicle registration certificate should include the page stamped with the most recent annual inspection. Additionally, a bank debit card application form is needed. This debit card is used to bind the ETC card. After obtaining the debit card, you can go to a designated bank branch to receive and install the ETC onboard device for free, with no additional charges. Applicants must be between 18 and 60 years old and own the vehicle in their name. Documents required for company vehicles: An introduction letter from the vehicle owner (with official seal); photocopy of the organization code certificate or business license (with official seal); original ID card of the proxy; original vehicle registration certificate; and the vehicle requiring ETC installation. Online application is also available: As various banks have their own online services and sections, ETC application services have been launched online for the convenience of vehicle owners, allowing applications to be made without leaving home. Here are some precautions for ETC installation: Avoid obstructing the driver's view; it's best to install it behind the interior rearview mirror. Many car models have steeply angled windshields, which can reduce the driver's field of vision. Installing the ETC without considering this may increase blind spots. Installing it on the right side behind the interior rearview mirror can help avoid obstructing the view.
