How to Install an External Tire Pressure Monitoring System?

External tire pressure monitoring system installation method: Prepare the installation tools, including hex nuts, dust covers, dust washers, cover openers, and nut wrenches. Remove the dust washer from the tire pressure sensor, then use a nut wrench to twist open the outer shell to reveal the button battery inside the sensor. Unscrew the dust cap from the tire valve, then place the dust cover over it, install the hex nut, attach the tire pressure sensor, and tighten the sensor with a nut wrench. This completes the installation of one tire pressure sensor. Tire pressure alarm reset method: There is a tire monitoring indicator button on the center console. After the system issues a low tire pressure warning, the vehicle must remain stationary for about one minute. Do not move the vehicle or turn off and restart the ignition until pressing the button to recalibrate the tire monitoring indicator. Find the tire pressure reset option in the settings on the center console display. If none of the above methods work, visit a 4S shop to reset the tire pressure alarm. What to do if tire pressure is insufficient: If no damage is visible, simply inflate the tire to the normal pressure and reset the tire pressure system. If a puncture is found during inspection, drive to a tire shop promptly for a repair, then reinflate the tire. If the low tire pressure warning appears again after some time of inflation without any punctures, it may be due to air leakage caused by a deformed wheel hub. It is recommended to check the wheel hub and replace it if necessary.
Let me share my experience installing an external tire pressure monitoring system. You'll need a cross wrench and a cleaning cloth – the tools are quite simple. After opening the box, take out the sensors and display unit. Park on level ground and work on one tire at a time: first unscrew the original valve cap and clean the valve stem to prevent dust blockage; then align and screw on the new sensor, tightening firmly but not too forcefully to avoid damaging the sealing ring and causing air leaks. After installation, start the engine and power on the display for automatic pairing. If any tire's data doesn't appear, press the reset button or disconnect the power to retry. On my first attempt, I forgot to calibrate and drove without readings until checking the manual revealed a reset was needed. Regularly inspect sensors for looseness or dirt to ensure accurate readings. The whole process takes about half an hour – convenient and significantly improves driving safety.
