How to Install a Roof Rack on the New Qashqai?

The installation of a roof rack on the new Qashqai can be done in two ways: adhesive type and drilling type. The adhesive-type roof rack uses 3M adhesive for fixation, which is only suitable for aesthetic purposes and cannot truly function as a luggage rack. If you intend to use it, drilling installation is required. For drilling installation on the roof, it involves waterproofing and rust prevention work on the car body, so it is recommended to have it installed at a professional modification shop. The installation tutorial for the adhesive-type aluminum alloy roof rack is as follows: 1. First, clean the roof: Thoroughly clean the area around the roof rain gutter, preferably with a cloth soaked in alcohol. Be careful not to apply excessive force during the process to avoid damaging the car paint. 2. Assemble the roof rack: The purchased roof rack parts are usually packaged separately, so attach the black rubber ends to the aluminum alloy roof rack bars. Do not confuse the left and right sides, as both the rubber ends and the roof rack bars are marked with L (left) and R (right). Then, tighten the screws, with two small screws on each end. 3. Apply the 3M adhesive to the roof rack: Since the 3M adhesive is in the form of double-sided tape, first peel it off and stick it to the rubber ends of the roof rack. The front and rear rubber ends are of different sizes, and the corresponding 3M adhesive pieces also vary in size. Do not mix them up; compare the sizes before sticking. After sticking, press firmly to ensure it is flat. 4. Determine the installation position: Place the two roof rack bars on the roof, aligning them according to the L and R markings on each bar to the left and right sides of the roof, respectively. The end with the larger rubber piece should face the rear of the car, with the rear end about 5 cm away from the seam at the rear door of the roof. The side end should be about 1 cm away from the inner edge of the black rain gutter. Note that the roof rack is not installed on the rain gutter but about 1 cm inside it. 5. Final installation: After determining the position, place the roof rack on the roof and check from a distance if the position is appropriate. If not, make minor adjustments until the final position is confirmed, then mark it with a water-based pen. The most critical step is to have two people present during installation. One person holds one end, peels off the protective layer of the 3M adhesive on the roof rack, stands on the tire, and presses it onto the determined position. Then, apply firm pressure for about 20 seconds to complete the installation.
