How to Install a Car Spoiler?

Car spoiler installation steps are: 1. Prepare the spoiler, installation tools, and clean the trunk lid; 2. Determine the installation position; 3. Drill appropriate holes with an electric drill; 4. Fix the spoiler in place and tighten it with fixing bolts; 5. Clean the spoiler and installation area after completion, then apply a layer of wax. A car spoiler refers to the protruding ducktail-shaped part installed at the rear end of the car trunk lid, which is part of the car's aerodynamic kit. Its main function is to reduce the lift at the rear of the vehicle.
Installing a car spoiler is all too familiar to me, having modified several cars. First, you need to choose the right spoiler that fits your car model—otherwise, mismatched size or shape will look awkward. Then, thoroughly clean the trunk lid surface with alcohol or a cleaner to remove grease and dust, as adhesive won’t hold well otherwise. Measure the position carefully before sticking it on to ensure it’s level and symmetrical, avoiding a crooked look when driving. I usually use 3M double-sided tape, pressing firmly for a few minutes to set it, or reinforce it with screws for extra security. After installation, it’s best to test-drive briefly to confirm the spoiler is firmly in place without wobbling. Spoilers aren’t just stylish—they also reduce aerodynamic lift at high speeds, improving stability. While the process seems simple, skipping steps risks scratching the car or damaging the paint, so caution is key.
