How to Install a Car ETC?

Before installing the car ETC, ensure that the installation location is free of other attachments or cracks. If there is a metal film on the windshield, it may block the signal, so a section of the metal film needs to be removed before attaching the ETC device. Then, peel off the adhesive strip on the back of the device and attach it to the right side of the rearview mirror on the front windshield. The ETC installation process is as follows: Upon receiving the device, first check if the ETC card and the electronic tag (OBU) are damaged. Press the anti-tamper button on the back of the OBU; a red light will briefly illuminate, and the OLED screen will display messages such as "Tag Invalid" or "Please Insert Card," indicating the device is functioning normally. Clean the front windshield to ensure the surface is smooth, clean, and dry. Then, peel off the protective film of the OBU adhesive and attach it to the installation position. Press firmly with your hand for 2-3 minutes to remove any air bubbles. Insert the ETC card with the front side facing the driver and the back side facing the windshield, ensuring the chip is inserted into the OBU device.
Last time I spent a long time figuring out how to install the ETC myself. The key is finding the right spot - I recommend sticking it on the black dotted area to the right of the rearview mirror, which won't block your view or interfere with solar charging. Clean the glass as carefully as you would when applying a phone screen protector - wipe it three times with alcohol pads and wait until completely dry before applying. You should hear a click when pressing it down firmly, and it's best to hold it for 30 seconds without letting go. Oh, and don't charge it randomly before activation - a friend of mine fried the circuit by using a power bank. After installation, remember to test it by checking if the green light turns on when passing through the ETC lane.
