How to Install a Car Armrest Box?

First, open the center armrest box and remove the fabric cover inside. Use a #10 tool to unscrew the two #10 screws and set aside the securing screws. Shift the gear to the N (neutral) position, then firmly pull the gear lever upward to release it from the securing clip. Start by prying the left side first. Then, pry open the clip on the right side. The central gear lever panel is surrounded by clips all around; simply pull upward sequentially to release them. First, move one of the seats to the very front. Align the base of the armrest box with the original car base, then gently press the armrest box into place.
I installed a new armrest by myself a few days ago, and it was quite simple. First, prepare the tools—basically just a screwdriver and a cleaning cloth. Clean the central console area, as too much dust can affect the installation. Align the armrest base to ensure it matches the seat position. Secure it with screws—usually one at each corner, and tighten carefully to avoid stripping the threads. After installation, test it: shake it to check stability and place some items to test the load capacity. My car is an older model, so I also had to adjust the height for comfort. If your car model is special, remember to check the manufacturer's instructions or search for video tutorials online for a more visual guide. It took about twenty minutes to complete, greatly improving driving comfort. Personal tip: when purchasing, choose one with storage compartments, and test the placement before installation to avoid rework. That's all there is to it—DIY is fun and saves hundreds in labor costs.
