How to Increase Engine Compression Ratio?
1 Answers
Methods to increase engine compression ratio: 1. Grind the cylinder head. Proper grinding can level an originally uneven cylinder head; 2. Add fixtures inside the combustion chamber. By fixing objects that occupy a certain volume in the combustion chamber, the gas volume in the combustion chamber is reduced, thereby increasing the compression ratio; 3. Replace with a thinner cylinder gasket. The cylinder gasket occupies a certain volume in the combustion chamber. Reducing the thickness of the cylinder gasket or using a thin steel cylinder gasket can decrease the combustion chamber volume, correspondingly increasing the compression ratio; 4. Modify the piston. This can enhance piston strength, reduce piston mass, and decrease friction between the piston and cylinder; 5. Replace the connecting rod. Increasing the length between the small end and the big end of the connecting rod changes the distance between the top and bottom dead centers, making the combustion chamber volume smaller and thus increasing the compression ratio.
