How to Identify the Engine Oil Filler Port?
1 Answers
The engine oil filler port is generally located on the left side of the engine. When opening the cap, slowly unscrew the oil filler cap in the reverse direction. For normal oil change operations, when reinstalling the oil filler cap, use the oil on the dipstick to lubricate the cap opening, and then smoothly tighten it in the clockwise direction until it is properly seated. Basic steps for adding engine oil: 1. After the car has been turned off and parked for about ten minutes, pull out the dipstick and wipe the oil traces clean with a cloth; 2. Reinsert the dipstick into the dipstick tube, then pull it out again to check the oil traces. The oil level should be between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick, preferably near the upper mark; 3. If the oil level is below the lower mark, it indicates insufficient oil and you should add oil immediately. While adding oil, continuously pull out the dipstick to monitor the oil level; 4. When topping up the oil, try to use the same type and brand of oil as the existing engine oil to avoid mixing different brands or varieties of oil.
