How to Fold the Side Mirrors on a Corolla?
2 Answers
On the side near the curb, manually fold the rearview mirror over. Avoid randomly adjusting the mirror glass, as this can cause the glass to shake, leading to eye fatigue. Press the switch to fold the mirrors; press the switch again to return them to their original position. If your vehicle does not come with a switch-operated folding system, it can be retrofitted. In automatic mode, locking/unlocking the doors is synchronized with the folding or unfolding of the mirrors. Performing a switch fold operation and turning off the engine will disable the automatic folding feature. To reactivate it, hold down both the switch and the angle adjustment switch simultaneously and then perform the switch fold operation.
I always find folding the side mirrors of my Corolla quite simple. First, check if your car has the power-folding feature—there's usually a button near the door handle controls on the driver's side. Just press it to retract the mirrors automatically. For non-power models, you'll need to fold them manually by gently pushing the mirror housing outward, but avoid using excessive force to prevent damage. I used to do this often with my older Corolla, especially in tight parking spots or narrow streets, to avoid scratches and protect the paint. Always remember to check if the engine is off before adjusting the mirrors for safety. If unsure, refer to the owner's manual—it provides clear instructions and additional maintenance tips. Since adopting this habit, my mirrors have stayed cleaner and more durable.
