How to fold the mirrors of Audi A3?

Audi A3's mirrors can be folded manually or by operation. The mirror control switch is located on the left side of the driver's door, near the window lift buttons. Rotating the knob can fold both left and right exterior mirrors. Car mirrors are important safety components, allowing drivers to indirectly see the rear, side, and lower parts of the vehicle, expanding the driver's field of vision. In terms of power, the Audi A3 is equipped with a 1.4T turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 110kW and a maximum torque of 250Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Anyone who drives an Audi A3 knows that folding the mirrors is done right on the door panel. On the driver's side door armrest, there's a round knob with a mirror icon. Turn it all the way down (around the 6 o'clock position), and both mirrors will automatically fold in. If there's a dedicated folding button, just press it—the icon looks like a mirror bending. If you have a higher trim model, go into the settings in the infotainment system, find the mirror options, and enable the auto-folding feature when locking the car. This way, the mirrors will fold automatically every time you lock the car with the key—super convenient. In winter, make sure the mirrors aren’t frozen before folding them, as forcing them could damage the motor. If needed, just fold them manually.
In the past, I had to manually fold the mirrors on my old car, but with the A3, it's much easier. Just find the mirror adjustment knob on the driver's side door panel, turn it to the folding position at the end, and the mirrors will obediently close. In newer models, you can even set automatic folding via the central control screen: go to vehicle settings, find the external mirrors menu, and check the central locking folding option. I usually fold them when navigating narrow roads or during automatic car washes to avoid damaging the mirror glass. Car wash attendants might forcefully fold them and damage the electric mechanism—once I forgot to fold them and the machine scratched them, so now I've learned to fold the mirrors first thing when getting in the car.
