Locate the door armrest on the left side of the driver's seat and manually press the folding button inside the car. This button also serves as the unfolding button. After powering on, press it again, and the side mirrors will automatically unfold.

I remember when I first drove the X3, it took me a while to figure things out too. Folding the rearview mirrors is actually super simple. When you're in the driver's seat, look towards the left door. Right at the front of the window control button area, there's a circular directional pad and two small square buttons. Find the square button with the mirror icon - the left one controls the left mirror, and the right one corresponds to the right mirror. To fold them, just press and hold both small square buttons simultaneously, and the mirrors will obediently fold in. Press them together again when you need to unfold them. One small detail to note: you need to press the buttons firmly all the way down - pressing too lightly might not trigger the response. Remember to fold them when parking, especially in narrow roads or roadside parking. Last time I forgot to fold them when entering an old residential area, and I almost scraped the paint against a corner.

The electric mirror control knob on the X3 is quite ingeniously designed. On the panel in front of the driver's door handle, near the window switch, there are two raised rectangular buttons - the one with the mirror icon is the one. The two buttons are placed side by side. Try pressing them simultaneously with your thumb and index finger like pinching a peanut - when you hear a slight motor sound, it means the mirrors are adjusting. Once when picking up a friend, as she walked around to the rear to get luggage, I pressed the folding button and the mirrors slowly closed like butterfly wings folding - she complimented how elegant this feature was. When driving on highways in rain, it's recommended to keep the mirrors unfolded for safer visibility.

Three-step operation: 1. Start the vehicle and power it on; 2. Look to the lower left at the door armrest; 3. Locate the side-by-side buttons with the dual mirror icons (L on the left and R on the right), and press them down firmly with both index fingers. When folded, the mirrors will fit against the window at a 45-degree angle, and they will automatically reset when unfolded. If there is no response after pressing, it may be due to the system misjudging that the vehicle is in motion (the folding function is automatically locked at speeds above 15 km/h). Simply pull over, shift to P gear, and try again.

I always tell my friends this feature is the epitome of luxury car ceremony. The control area is at the front end of the driver's side door panel—look for the symmetrical dual mirror symbols among the metallic button cluster. Hold for 3 seconds to activate folding, which is more reliable than a single press. Models with comfort entry can even be set to auto-fold when exiting: navigate to the vehicle settings-door lock menu on the center display and check the auto-folding mirrors option. However, it's advisable to disable this function before snowy winter days—some owners have reported motor damage from forced opening when frozen. For daily use, manual control is the safest bet.

Imagine that row of buttons as piano keys—it's easy to remember. The two square white buttons at the very front are the rearview mirror controls. Located in front of the door handle, they're positioned closer to the front of the car than the window buttons. Pressing both simultaneously has an anti-misoperation design to prevent accidental folding while driving. Once, when picking up my child from school, the road near the gate was narrow. I held the button about thirty meters in advance, and the rearview mirrors slowly folded in. The turn signals on the inner side of the mirrors remained lit, so even the electric scooters parked alongside could notice the change in our car's width. This thoughtful design is genuinely practical.
