How to fold down the third row of the Buick GL8?

The third-row seats of the Buick GL8 are fully fixed and can only be folded down in the more common 60/40 split configuration. There are buckle-style fixing switches at the top of the rear seats, with pivot links at the backrest and seat cushion, allowing the backrest to be easily folded down with a one-touch operation. At the bottom of both sides on the back of the seats (marked by red circles), pull one (either one will do) and gently push the backrest forward naturally.
Every time I take the Buick GL8 out for a trip, I always have to deal with the third-row seats. Folding them down allows for more storage space, making family outings more convenient. Specifically, when sitting in the third-row seat, locate the pull loop at the top of the backrest, give it a gentle tug, and the entire seat will fold backward into a flat position. If it doesn’t go smoothly, remember to retract the headrest first: there’s a small button on the side of the backrest—press it to retract the headrest, making it easier to pull the handle. Throughout the process, ensure no obstacles are in the way, and after folding, check that the seat is securely in place. I find this design quite thoughtful—it instantly expands the trunk space, making it much easier to load large items for weekend picnics. The key is to be gentle; using too much force might cause it to jam. With regular practice, you can get it done in just ten seconds once you’re familiar with the operation.
