How to flash ECU for cars?

Alter the data controlling the engine to influence its operation, achieving desired effects within the engine's tolerable limits. Optimize parameter settings to increase horsepower output, enhance torque, or reduce fuel consumption.
As an owner who has DIY-flashed the ECU several times, I mainly rely on purchasing OBD devices and program packages. First, park the car stably and turn off the engine, then locate the OBD port under the steering wheel and connect it to a laptop with a data cable. After opening the flashing software, the first step is to fully back up the original factory program—this is the most crucial step, as it allows restoration in case of any issues. Then upload the new program, making sure not to touch the power cable during the process, which takes about half an hour for the progress bar to complete. After the first ignition post-flashing, the engine light might come on, but driving a few kilometers usually clears it. DIY flashing saves two to three thousand yuan, but it’s essential to verify the program version—last time, using the wrong version nearly caused the turbocharger to report a fault. Now, after each flash, I always run a full vehicle scan with an OBD scanner.
