How to Fix Reversed Rearview Camera Display?
2 Answers
Open the settings interface of your car's navigation system, and locate the option for 'Rearview Mirror Image' within the settings. Note that it's 'Rearview Mirror Image', not 'Rearview Camera'. By default, this option is set to 'On'. Simply change the status of the 'Rearview Mirror Image' setting to 'Off' to correct the display.
Last week I noticed the reversing image was mirrored, with the left side showing the right, which felt very awkward. Usually this is a setting issue, not a major malfunction. Start the engine, shift into reverse to display the image, then look for the settings menu on the screen. Enter the system or vehicle settings, scroll down to see if there's a 'reversing camera' or 'camera options'. After opening it, you'll commonly find a 'mirror function' or 'image orientation' switch – turning off the mirroring should correct it immediately. If this option isn't found in the system, the camera might be physically installed upside down; after parking, check the camera's installation position to ensure it's not inverted, then adjust the mounting screws to reinstall it properly. I tried turning off the mirror setting and it worked quickly; the whole process took just minutes. For prevention, regularly check settings or pay attention to orientation when installing a new camera. It's simple DIY, but if it's still reversed, don't force it – visit a 4S shop or mechanic to avoid misjudging distances and causing accidents while reversing.
