If your car's fuel tank cap won't close, you can replace the plastic plate. However, this plastic plate is not very common, so you can purchase a standard fuel tank cap, remove its plastic plate, and install it on your own vehicle. Most fuel tank caps are secured by four hooks, so be careful when removing the cap to avoid damaging it by applying excessive force. Alternatively, you can directly replace it with a locking fuel tank cap, though the key for the fuel tank cap won't be the same as the car key. A locking fuel tank cap helps prevent fuel theft and usually displays the recommended gasoline grade for the car. Some caps also show the standard tire pressure, so it's advisable not to replace the original fuel tank cap unnecessarily.
