How to Fix a Failed DIY Paint Touch-Up?

To completely remove rust, dirt, and grease from the paint surface. Carefully use tape to mask off the area around the scratch for better results. You can also use polishing compound to smooth out the scratch and paint surface. Follow the method used for modifying drawings in the past, trying to avoid damaging surrounding areas, and scrape off any raised paint marks.
Last time I messed up the touch-up paint job, and the color difference was a real headache. To fix it, first use 1000-grit sandpaper with water to sand the entire area smooth, making sure to get into all the corners, especially any uneven spots. Rinse with water and dry, then apply two thin coats of primer, waiting 20 minutes between each. When spraying the color paint, hold the can 30 cm away and spray 3-4 layers with a side-to-side motion, waiting until each layer is semi-dry before applying the next. Let it dry for half a day before spraying the clear coat, and finally polish carefully with wax. Remember to work indoors, away from dust, and it's best to wear a mask. If the paint is already uneven in thickness, it's easier to just sand it all off and start over.
