Sit in the driver's seat of the Tharu, adjust the seat position, press the brake pedal, and shift the gear to the P position while keeping it unchanged. Release the brake pedal with your right foot, then press the one-touch start button twice consecutively. After ensuring all doors are properly closed, press and hold the lock button on the driver's side door with your left hand for more than 10 seconds, and the locking sound will be successfully set.

To enable the lock confirmation beep on the Volkswagen Tharu, you need to access the central control system settings. Over my years of driving, I've noticed slight variations in the setup location across different model years. For newer models, you can open the vehicle settings menu on the central display, find the door/window switch option, where there's a lock confirmation beep toggle. For older models, you might need to press and hold the unlock button on the key fob for several seconds to activate this function. Remember, after enabling it, the horn will give a short beep when locking - particularly useful in parking lots, and the sound is subtle enough for residential areas at night without causing disturbance. This feature is separate from the anti-theft alarm system, serving purely as an audible confirmation feedback.

To enable the car lock beep, you need to manually operate the infotainment system. I usually turn on this function after parking in the car by finding the Vehicle Settings - Central Door Lock menu on the touchscreen and checking the Beep option. The Tharu doesn’t have this function enabled by default from the factory, so it remains silent every time you lock the car. After successful setup, there’s usually a prompt icon on the dashboard. When locking the car, remember to check if the hazard lights flash twice accompanied by a short horn beep. Don’t confuse it with the vehicle locator function, which requires holding down the key to trigger continuous horn beeps.

To activate the lock confirmation sound, operate through the Tharu's infotainment system. Navigate to Settings, select the Doors/Windows or Central Locking menu, and enable the Acoustic Feedback function. When locking with the key, you'll hear one short horn beep indicating success; unlocking triggers two short beeps. New owners needn't worry about battery drain - these electronic alerts consume negligible power compared to the vehicle's anti-theft system. Note that the sound volume follows the vehicle's main horn settings and cannot be adjusted separately.
