How to Determine if the Valve Stem Seal is Faulty?
1 Answers
To determine whether the valve stem seal is leaking oil, you can use the method of accelerating and releasing the throttle. If blue smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe when accelerating, it indicates excessive wear of the piston, piston rings, and cylinder liner. If blue smoke appears when releasing the throttle, it suggests damage to the valve stem seal or wear of the valve guide. Causes of seal damage: 1. Assembly issues: During assembly, the threads or splines were not aligned properly. Misaligned connections can lead to oil leakage due to poor sealing, also damaging the seal itself. 2. Material problems: The tightness of the spring does not meet the technical requirements. If too tight, it can cause improper fit between the seal and the rotating shaft, leading to abnormal wear. If too loose, the pressure may be insufficient to ensure a tight seal, resulting in ineffective sealing.
