How to Determine if the Ignition Coil is Damaged?
1 Answers
Methods to determine if the ignition coil is damaged are: 1. Turn the ignition switch to the NO position; 2. Unplug the ignition coil connector from the wiring harness, and use a multimeter to check whether there is approximately 12V battery voltage between pin 3 and the ground wire; 3. After confirming normal voltage, use a multimeter to check for any short circuits or open circuits between pin 1 of the connector and pin 5 of the ECU; 4. Once the wiring is confirmed to be normal, use a multimeter to check for any short circuits or open circuits between pin 2 of the connector and pin 2 of the ECU; 5. Check if the resistance of the sensor's primary coil is approximately 0.9 ohms; 6. Use an oscilloscope to check whether the secondary ignition waveform of the ignition system's high-voltage line is normal.
