How to Determine if Steering is Too Early or Too Late When Reversing into a Parking Space?

After parking the vehicle in the designated area, shift into reverse gear and start backing up. Observe when the lower edge of the left rearview mirror aligns with the stop line, then turn the steering wheel fully to the right while controlling the speed to slowly reverse. Monitor the distance between the vehicle body and the parking space corner in the right rearview mirror; this distance should gradually narrow. If you notice that continuing to reverse with the current steering angle prevents the right rear wheel from entering the parking space, it indicates that the steering was turned too early. Conversely, if the distance between the vehicle body and the parking space corner is significantly more than 30 cm when the right rear wheel is about to reach the corner, it means the steering was turned too late. Remedy for steering too late when reversing into a parking space: First, maintain the full right turn while reversing into the space. When the vehicle body is parallel to the parking space boundary line, continue to keep the steering fully turned to the right without straightening it. Allow the vehicle to enter the parking space at an angle, which creates more distance between the vehicle and the left boundary line. Pay attention to the timing of straightening the steering wheel. Once sufficient distance is created, turn the steering slightly to the left to align the vehicle body. Generally, if the steering was not turned too late, the required distance adjustment won't be too large. Remedy for steering too early when reversing into a parking space: If the steering wheel was turned too early while reversing, observe in the right rearview mirror that the distance between the right side of the vehicle body and the parking space corner is less than 30 cm. If it's slightly less than 30 cm, you can straighten the steering wheel halfway. If you're about to run over the corner, straighten the steering wheel completely. After straightening, observe the position of the right parking space corner through the right rearview mirror. When you see that the right rear wheel can enter the parking space or the corner disappears from the mirror, turn the steering wheel fully to the right again. Finally, use both left and right rearview mirrors to assess the position of the vehicle body relative to the parking space boundaries. When the vehicle is nearly parallel, straighten the steering wheel and continue reversing to park.
