How to Deal with Water Pump Leakage in a Car?

First, drain the coolant from the water pump, remove the V-belt, use a special tool to press out the water pump pulley, and then remove the water pump. Use the special tool to first remove the water pump bearing, and then detach the water pump impeller and sealing assembly from the bearing. Replace the sealing ring, new gasket, new V-belt, new pulley, etc. Then reinstall the water pump.
A leaking water pump is quite annoying. I've encountered this issue before—while driving, I noticed water dripping on the ground, and upon inspection, found it was a coolant system leak. The fix isn't too complicated. First, confirm whether the leak is indeed from the water pump by wiping it dry with a tissue to trace the source of the moisture. If it's the water pump, you can temporarily top up with coolant or distilled water as a stopgap, but this isn't a long-term solution. Then, you'll need to consider repairs—usually, replacing the water pump is the way to go. A repair shop can handle it for a few hundred yuan, but if you're doing it yourself, you'll need to know how to disassemble, reassemble, and apply proper sealing. This experience reminded me of the importance of regularly checking the water pump, as it circulates coolant to prevent engine overheating and leaks. If the problem worsens, repairs become more expensive and troublesome. Remember to feel the water pump area before driving to check for unusual heat as a precaution.
