How to Deal with Water in a Motorcycle Fuel Tank?

If water has entered the motorcycle, check which part is affected and promptly clean the waterlogged components. It is recommended to clean the oil box and replace the engine oil to prevent wear and tear on your beloved motorcycle.
Having water in the motorcycle fuel tank is indeed troublesome. First and foremost, I prioritize safety by immediately turning off the engine and pushing the bike to a well-ventilated area. Next, I drain the gasoline mixed with water from the tank. For bikes without a drain screw, the tank must be removed to pour out the contaminated fuel. I then use a clean cloth or compressed air to dry the interior corners thoroughly. The carburetor and fuel injectors also need to be disassembled and cleaned, as impurities in the water can easily clog the fuel lines. After everything is dried, I add fresh gasoline and start the engine several times to purge any remaining water from the fuel lines. To prevent this issue, always remember to tightly close the fuel tank cap when parking and avoid using a high-pressure washer directly on the fuel filler opening when washing the bike.
