Upon encountering a transmission overheating alarm, check whether the radiator fan is functioning properly, whether there is sufficient transmission fluid, and whether the transmission cooler is working correctly. Aggressive driving can also lead to excessive load on the transmission, resulting in abnormal temperature increases. In such cases, simply turn off the engine and allow the transmission to cool down naturally. It is advisable to drive smoothly and avoid aggressive driving, as it not only increases safety risks but also places additional stress on the engine and transmission, potentially causing damage and reducing their lifespan.
I've driven quite a few cars, and when encountering a transmission overheating warning, my first reaction is to immediately find a safe place to stop, turn off the engine, and let the car rest for a while. Overheating usually occurs due to prolonged climbing of steep slopes or overloading, or it could be because the transmission fluid is low or dirty and needs changing, or perhaps the radiator is clogged or the fan isn't working. Never push through and keep driving, as that will cause the transmission to wear out more severely or even completely fail. After stopping, wait at least half an hour before checking the dipstick to see if the fluid level is normal and the color is a clear reddish-brown. If not, quickly call a tow truck to take it to the repair shop for a thorough inspection, and have the technician use a computer to read the fault codes and check the cooling system thoroughly. When driving normally, pay attention to shifting gears properly and avoid constantly revving the engine. Regular maintenance with high-quality transmission fluid can also reduce the risk of overheating.
