How to Deal with the Sunroof Rattle in Emgrand GS?

For the sunroof rattle in Emgrand GS, you can check the sunroof sliding rails and add some lubricating oil. Inspect the sunroof's fastening condition, as looseness may also cause the rattle—tightening the relevant components should resolve it. The sunroof sealing strip, when exposed to rain or prolonged sunlight for extended periods, is prone to aging. Applying rubber conditioner can help restore its performance. The Emgrand GS is positioned as a crossover SUV, with dimensions of 4440mm in length, 1833mm in width, and 1573mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2700mm. The family-style front grille of the Emgrand GS gives the vehicle higher recognition. In terms of configuration, the Emgrand GS comes standard with features such as electrically adjustable mirrors, mirror heating, daytime running lights, and automatic headlights.
My Emgrand GS's sunroof was also annoyingly squeaky, especially when going over speed bumps. Later, I found out it was because the sunroof seal had aged and hardened, and when the sun heated it up, the seal would shrink and rub against the metal frame, causing noise. I tried applying that white silicone-based lubricant paste—available at hardware stores for about ten yuan a tube—slowly working it into the gaps along the seal. It lasted for about two to three months. If the seal is already cracked, you’ll need to replace the whole set. A repair shop quoted around three hundred yuan including installation, which is half the price of a dealership. Now, during hot weather, I occasionally apply some Vaseline to the seal, and so far, the noise hasn’t come back.
