How to Deal with Sulfation of Battery Plates?
1 Answers
For sulfation of battery plates, the low-current charging method can be used for treatment. The specific steps are as follows: 1. First, add pure distilled water to the electrolyte to reduce the specific gravity to below 1.2, ensuring the liquid level reaches the upper standard line. 2. Charge with half the current of the 10-hour discharge rate. When bubbles start to appear and the voltage reaches about 2.4V, stop charging for 30 minutes. 3. Reduce the charging current to one-fourth of the 10-hour discharge rate and continue charging until vigorous bubbling occurs on both the positive and negative plates, then stop charging for 20 minutes. 4. Continue charging with half the current of the 10-hour discharge rate until the battery returns to normal. 5. Note: Do not arbitrarily add acid to the battery during the charging process, and ensure the specific gravity of the electrolyte does not exceed the specified value.
