How to Deal with Stripped Motorcycle Oil Drain Plug?
1 Answers
Stripped threads are generally handled by enlarging the hole to the next size and replacing the drain bolt. 1. Stripped Thread Treatment: For slightly stripped threads on a motorcycle's oil drain plug hole, you can re-tap the threads with a tap. For more severe cases, the hole needs to be enlarged, and a thicker drain bolt should be fitted. In extreme cases where direct repair isn't possible, the engine casing may need replacement. 2. Assess the Situation: Examine the bolt - if threads are missing, the bolt is stripped. Feel the threads on the triangular plate's drain hole underneath the motorcycle to check their condition before making a judgment. Usually, it's the bolt that gets stripped due to its weaker material strength, so simply purchasing a new bolt for replacement should suffice.
