How to Deal with Rust on Car Seat Frames?

Use 280-320 grit dry sandpaper or a scouring pad to sand the rusted areas. After the painted seat frame is completely dry, reinstall it back into the vehicle. Use a spray bottle to apply degreaser to the sanded surface. Immediately after spraying the degreaser, use a clean cloth to wipe off the grease, then dry it thoroughly. Apply an environmentally friendly and odorless epoxy primer evenly to the treated surface (P565~895 is recommended). Place the painted seat frame in a well-ventilated and dry area to air-dry for 30-60 minutes.
A few days ago, I noticed the seat frame of my car started to rust, probably because I forgot to close the window during the last rain and water got in. I immediately removed the seat, lightly sanded off the rust spots with sandpaper, sprayed rust remover, waited a few minutes to wipe it dry, and then applied a layer of rust-proof spray paint. After reassembling everything, it felt much sturdier, and the DIY job only cost me a few dozen yuan. Severe rusting can weaken the frame's strength, potentially causing deformation during emergency braking and leading to accidents, so I recommend addressing it early rather than delaying. Parking in a dry place and placing some desiccants inside the car to absorb moisture can prevent this issue. Although this small project takes some time, it ensures safety, extends the seat's lifespan, and saves a lot on repair costs.
