How to Deal with Oxidized Spots on Car Rearview Mirrors?

First, use a damp cloth to moisten the area with water spots, allowing them to become wet, which will make them easier to clean later. Then, after about half an hour, spray car cleaner on the area with water spots and gently spread it with a brush. Wait for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub the area with water spots. Rinse with water after scrubbing to see if the water spots are removed. Once the water spots are cleaned off with water, apply a softening paste to the area with water spots. The softening paste can help lighten the water spots on the car.
My old car's rearview mirror also developed spots, and vinegar solution works well. First, mix white vinegar with warm water (1:1 ratio), then use a soft cloth dipped in the solution to gently wipe away the oxidation layer. This can remove both water stains and minor oxidation spots. After wiping, rinse it clean with water, and the mirror surface will immediately become much clearer. If the spots are stubborn, you can buy a bottle of glass polish at an auto parts store for about 20-30 yuan, squeeze some onto a sponge, and buff in circular motions for about five minutes—this should mostly restore it. Remember not to use steel wool or scrub hard, as scratching the mirror's coating will ruin it permanently. After rain, promptly dry the mirror surface to avoid acid rain corrosion, and parking under cover is even better. I make it a habit to clean the rearview mirror every time I wash my car, and it hasn’t developed spots again in three years.
