How to Deal with Oil Spilled Under Car Mats?
2 Answers
Before washing, shake off the dust from the car mat and lay it flat on a clean surface. Use a professional carpet cleaner (bulk detergents are strictly prohibited) and sprinkle it on the surface of the car mat. After scrubbing repeatedly with a brush to remove stains, avoid soaking the bottom of the mat in water for an extended period and do not expose it to direct sunlight.
Recently, I accidentally spilled some oil under the car floor mat and quickly dealt with it. First, I promptly removed the floor mat to prevent the oil from seeping into the car floor. I used an old towel or newspaper to absorb most of the oil, then scrubbed the contaminated area vigorously with dish soap and water, repeating the process several times. If the oil smell was strong, I sprinkled some baking soda powder, let it sit for a while, and then wiped it off. Afterward, I made sure the area was completely dry before putting the floor mat back, preferably using a hairdryer to assist. Regularly check the floor mat to prevent oil residue from causing corrosion or odors. Remember, if oil stains aren't cleaned up quickly, they might affect the air quality inside the car. In short, safety first—don't be lazy.
