Remove the one-way clutch from the starter and soak it in gasoline for several tens of minutes. After taking the one-way clutch out of the gasoline, place it on a wooden board and vibrate it while twisting it in the idling direction. Repeat this several times until you can confirm that the small gear can rotate freely in one direction by holding the rotor shaft with one hand and turning the small gear with the other.

If the gears in your car start slipping, such as clutch slippage in a manual transmission or sluggish response in an automatic transmission, it can be both frustrating and dangerous. Once you notice the engine revs soaring but the car isn't moving forward when you press the accelerator, immediately slow down and pull over—don't push it, especially on highways. Turn on your hazard lights to alert other drivers. First, do a quick check of the transmission fluid: see if the dipstick shows normal levels or if the fluid is too dirty. If you can handle it, top it off or replace the fluid, but make sure to use the correct type. If the issue persists, you must take it to a professional shop for inspection, as slippage could signal clutch wear or gear damage—delaying repairs might wreck the entire transmission. I recommend adopting smooth driving habits, avoiding riding the clutch or aggressive acceleration. Never ignore safety concerns; addressing them promptly is the best way to avoid accidents or costlier repairs.

I've seen plenty of gear slippage cases, mostly caused by transmission or clutch issues. The most common reasons include insufficient or contaminated transmission fluid, or excessively worn clutch plates. For DIY solutions, first check the fluid condition - locate the transmission dipstick under the hood and top up with fresh fluid if low, or perform a complete fluid and filter change. Then inspect the clutch system; for manual cars, adjust the clutch pedal to ensure proper travel. If slippage persists or unusual noises occur, visit a professional mechanic for specific gear or internal damage diagnosis - don't attempt repairs yourself to avoid worsening the problem. Timely action is crucial as unaddressed slippage may lead to component burnout and unnecessary expenses. I always believe routine fluid checks and proper driving habits can prevent such troubles.
