How to Deal with Frost on the Car Windshield?
2 Answers
In winter, frost and ice formation on car windshields are extremely common, mainly caused by the significant temperature difference between the inside and outside of the car. Therefore, opening the car doors for a few minutes before parking at night, allowing the interior temperature to equalize with the outside, can reduce or even prevent the formation of frost and ice on the windshield in the morning, which is difficult to remove. If frost has already formed on the windshield, follow these steps: 1. Turn on the external circulation to heat the glass; 2. Pour a cup of hot water to wipe the frosted area; 3. Cover the windshield with a newspaper after parking at night; 4. Activate the air conditioner's defrost mode; 5. Clean the glass with dishwashing liquid; 6. Remove the interior heat before parking at night.
It's really annoying to find the windshield frosted over when preparing to drive in the morning. I usually start the car, turn on the heater and set it to the windshield mode, while gently scraping off the surface frost with a hard plastic scraper. Never pour hot water on it, as the extreme temperature difference can cause the glass to crack. Remember to leave ten minutes earlier to allow enough time for defrosting. In winter, lifting the wipers when parking can prevent them from freezing to the glass, or covering the windshield with an old sheet also works well. If frost occurs frequently, check the door seals, as poor sealing can cause interior moisture to frost on the cold glass.
