Pour some hot water on the dented area to try to make it bulge out. Plastic products have a certain degree of shrinkage, and in most cases, pouring hot water will cause them to bulge. For metal materials, the outer shell is usually coated with a layer of particles. Minor dents can be pulled out using a puller, while severe cases may require cutting. If the pedal is made of aluminum alloy, it generally cannot be repaired and needs to be replaced, with the replacement cost being relatively high.
Pedal deformation is no small matter, and my biggest concern is safety, as deformation can affect the pedal feel and potentially lead to delayed braking or acceleration. If this happens to my car, I would immediately stop to inspect the severity of the deformation. If it's just a slight bend, I might carefully drive to the nearest repair shop, but in cases of severe deformation—such as obvious twisting or sticking—a tow truck must be called. At the repair shop, the mechanic will check whether the issue was caused by an accident or wear and tear, and may need to replace the entire pedal assembly. Sometimes, other components like connecting rods will also be inspected for damage. In daily use, I make sure to keep the pedals clean and avoid debris buildup under floor mats that could cause pressure points and deformation. Insisting on an annual professional inspection of the braking system can prevent such issues, while replacing aging parts extends their lifespan. Driving habits are also crucial—slamming on the brakes or heavy acceleration can easily lead to deformation. Developing smooth driving habits ensures both safety and peace of mind.
