How to Deal with Cracks in Car Headlights?

For minor scratches, you can use toothpaste to polish them. Squeeze toothpaste onto the headlight and use a clean towel to rub in circular motions, then rinse with water. For longer scratches and cracks on car headlights, you can use fine-grit sandpaper to sand them down, followed by polishing with polishing wax.
My car's headlights also developed fine cracks last year, which I initially ignored. Later, they fogged up when it rained. I fixed it myself: first, I bought professional UV sealant from an auto parts store, cleaned and dried the headlights, applied the sealant, and cured it with a UV lamp for about ten minutes. The result was great—the cracks disappeared, and the lights were as clear as new. However, if the cracks are deep or cover a large area, you’ll need to replace the lens or the entire headlight unit. I ended up spending a few hundred at the repair shop to get it done. My advice is to address small cracks immediately to prevent worsening. Park in shaded areas to reduce sun damage, and inspect the headlight surface monthly, cleaning it with a soft cloth to prolong its lifespan. Safe driving depends on clear headlights—don’t take them lightly.
