How to Deal with a Leaking Car Fuel Tank?

Both the engine and transmission have oil drain screws. The wheel hub bearings should be lubricated appropriately to ensure they are connected to the atmosphere. If the oil seals and gaskets are damaged or fail, replace them with new sealing components. Valve oil seals can prevent engine oil from entering the intake and exhaust pipes, which would cause oil loss.
Fuel tank leaks are quite dangerous and must be dealt with immediately—safety first. First, park the car, turn off the engine, and stay away from any ignition sources like lighters or electrical wires to avoid explosions. Check whether the leak is from a crack in the fuel tank itself or a loose fuel line connection. If it's a small leak, you can temporarily use emergency tape to seal it and control the situation. However, don’t drive far—either go slowly to a repair shop or call a tow truck directly. Once towed, a professional mechanic will inspect the cause of the tank damage and replace any faulty parts, which may cost a few hundred to over a thousand yuan. For prevention, regularly maintain the fuel tank to prevent rainwater corrosion and ensure fuel levels don’t drop below the minimum line. If a leak happens at night, it’s even more dangerous—use a flashlight and move slowly. With 20+ years of driving experience and having handled several leaks, I remind everyone not to take it lightly—safety is the top priority.
