How to Deal with a Dead Car Battery?

Solutions for a dead car battery: You can choose to jump-start the car with the help of another vehicle and then recharge it through the engine. Here are the reasons for a dead car battery: Long-term parking of the car, leading to battery discharge: When the car is idle, the battery will still discharge due to its self-discharge characteristics, even if it is not in use. The battery has reached the end of its service life: Most private cars currently use maintenance-free batteries. Wipe the battery's inspection window clean and observe the color inside. If it is green, the battery is normal; if it is black, it indicates low voltage and insufficient charge, which can be solved by charging; if it is white, it means the battery has reached the end of its service life. Insufficient battery electrolyte or leakage: During normal use, the electrolyte in a car battery will naturally evaporate and deplete. Therefore, during routine maintenance, you should regularly check the electrolyte level, which should be between the maximum and minimum marks. Insufficient electrolyte will naturally lead to insufficient charge in the car battery.
When I encounter a dead car battery, I first check if the headlights are still on to determine if it's truly out of power. If it is indeed dead, I quickly find jumper cables and seek help from a kind driver for a jump-start: first, park both cars nose to nose without touching, attach the red clamp to my battery's positive terminal and the other car's positive terminal, the black clamp to my negative terminal and a grounding point on the body, ensure all devices are turned off before starting the other car's engine, wait a few minutes, then start my car. If successful, let it run for a while to check if the battery is charging. If it doesn’t work, the battery might be old and need replacement or there could be an alternator issue, in which case I’d contact a professional repair shop. Remember, never reverse the clamps or let them touch water—safety first. A dead battery can easily cause accidents, so preventive measures like regularly cleaning battery terminal corrosion or charging before cold weather can be very helpful.
