How to Cool Down the Air Conditioner in the New Passat?

Passat's air conditioning cooling method is as follows: You can choose to press the auto button or the AC button. When the light is on, it indicates that the air conditioner has been activated. Then, use the temperature adjustment rotary knob to set the desired temperature. Car air conditioning refers to the air conditioning device installed in a vehicle, capable of cooling, heating, ventilating, and purifying the air inside the cabin, providing a comfortable environment for passengers, reducing driver fatigue, and enhancing driving safety. The four cyclic processes of car air conditioning are as follows: 1. Compression process: The compressor inhales low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerant gas from the evaporator outlet, then compresses it into high-temperature and high-pressure gas, which is discharged from the compressor. 2. Heat dissipation process: The high-temperature and high-pressure superheated refrigerant gas enters the condenser. Due to the decrease in pressure and temperature, the refrigerant gas condenses into a liquid, releasing a large amount of heat. 3. Throttling process: The refrigerant liquid with higher temperature and pressure passes through the expansion device, causing its volume to increase, and its pressure and temperature to drop sharply, discharging from the expansion device in a mist form (fine droplets). 4. Heat absorption process: The mist-like refrigerant liquid enters the evaporator. Since the boiling point of the refrigerant is much lower than the temperature inside the evaporator, the refrigerant liquid evaporates into a gas.
After driving for over a decade, operating the air conditioning in the new Passat is actually quite straightforward. After starting the engine, turn to the center console and locate the temperature control knob, usually round in shape—turning it to the left lowers the temperature. Press the A/C button, and when the light turns on, it means the compressor is activated. Increase the fan speed using another button or knob for stronger airflow. If the weather is very hot, it’s best to turn on the recirculation mode simultaneously, as this cools the cabin faster and improves fuel efficiency. I recommend regularly checking the cabin air filter; replacing it annually ensures clean and smooth cooling. Setting the temperature around 22°C is most comfortable, as extremes are not ideal for health. Keep the air conditioning running at night while driving, and avoid opening the windows too wide to prevent distractions. If issues like slow cooling arise, don’t forget to check if the refrigerant level is sufficient—a quick top-up at the 4S shop usually solves the problem. With these simple steps, summer driving becomes a comfortable experience.
