I've driven several generations of the BMW 7 Series, and connecting Bluetooth on the older 730Li model does require some know-how. First, start the car and press the circular iDrive knob on the center console, then turn it left to enter the 'Settings' menu. Select 'Communication' and go into 'Bluetooth Devices'. At this point, turn on your phone's Bluetooth and look for a device name starting with 'BMW ULF' in the vehicle's search list to pair. Some versions may require entering a pairing code like '0000' or '1234'. After connecting, test the call function – most older systems only support phone calls, and you'll need to use an AUX cable plugged into the center armrest for music.
