To disassemble a Mercedes key, first press the black button to the other side, pull out the mechanical key, and then use the mechanical key to forcefully pry open the key shell. The functions of the Mercedes key are as follows: 1. One-touch door opening: Lock the doors, insert the key, and start the vehicle. 2. Long-press the lock button: All window glasses will close. 3. Long-press the unlock button: All four windows will roll down. 4. Trunk button: Press once to unlock the trunk, long-press to automatically pop it open. 5. Remote control sleep function: Press the remote control twice to enter sleep mode.
Disassembling a Mercedes key isn't actually difficult. I've completely taken one apart when replacing the battery myself. Just prepare a small flathead screwdriver. There's a thin gap on the side of the key - gently pry open the upper half with the screwdriver, but don't use too much force or the plastic clips might break. Once the casing separates, you'll see the circuit board. Use your fingernail to release the fixing clips on both sides, and the circuit board can then be removed. The innermost part contains the battery compartment and mechanical key section - the mechanical key can simply be pushed out from the groove at the end. The whole process requires gentle handling as those small springs can easily fly away, so I recommend laying a towel on your work surface. Cleaning dust after disassembly is particularly important - Mercedes keys have many crevices. Using alcohol-dipped cotton swabs to clean the contacts can prevent malfunction.
