How to Close the Tesla Charging Port Cover?

Click the lightning bolt symbol on the central control screen, then tap 'Open Charge Port' in the upper right corner. Alternatively, tap the bottom of the central control screen, select 'Charging,' and then choose 'Open Charge Port.' To manually open it, remove the charging plug from the charger and long-press the trunk unlock button on the Tesla key fob—this will automatically pop open the charge port cover.
I've been driving a Tesla for several years now, and I've got some experience with the charging port cover. Generally, the cover closes automatically after you unplug the charging cable, which is super convenient. But sometimes it gets stuck, especially if you park in a dusty area, and you'll need to close it manually. Inside the car, you can open the main menu on the touchscreen, go to the charging options, and there's a 'Close Charge Port' button—just tap it. For some models, you can also gently push the cover to close it, but don't use too much force to avoid damaging the motor. I've also encountered situations where it froze in winter; in that case, I used a hairdryer to warm it up before operating to prevent damage. Regularly cleaning the charging port with a damp cloth to remove dust helps maintain the automatic function.
