How to Clean the Radiator?

Radiator cleaning method: 1. Most car radiators are hidden behind the engine bumper. Before cleaning, the bumper needs to be removed. Ensure all fixing screws are loosened during removal, and then slowly detach it from both ends towards the middle. 2. After removing the bumper, the radiator's position becomes clearly visible. Adjust the water gun nozzle to a spray mode and set the pressure to an appropriate level, then rinse the dirty radiator surface. 3. After rinsing, check if any cooling fins are damaged. If so, use tweezers or a bamboo skewer to straighten them. Once all checks are completed, reinstall the bumper in the reverse order of removal to finish cleaning the radiator.
Cleaning the radiator isn't actually difficult—I do it myself. First, turn off the engine and let it cool for half an hour to avoid burns from high temperatures. Use a soft-bristle brush dipped in neutral detergent to gently scrub away dust and insect remains from the radiator surface, paying special attention to the gaps between the cooling fins. Then rinse with medium-pressure water from a garden hose—avoid high-pressure washers as they can bend the fins. After washing, check for leaves stuck in corners, as these often block airflow. I typically clean it every six months, especially after long trips. A clean radiator improves engine cooling efficiency, making the AC more effective in summer. If you notice discolored coolant, replace it—this little trick helps extend engine life.
