How to Clean Engine Scale?
1 Answers
There are two commonly used cleaning agents for removing scale. One is to add 750g of caustic soda and 250g of kerosene to 5000g of water; the other is to add 1000g of baking soda and 500g of kerosene to 5000g of water. The amount of cleaning agent should be determined based on the cooling water volume. The descaling steps are as follows: 1. Turn off the engine at normal operating temperature, immediately drain the cooling water (remove the thermostat if equipped), and add the cleaning agent to the cooling system. 2. Start the engine and run it at medium speed for 5-10 minutes, changing the speed several times during this period to alter the flow rate of the cleaning agent and flush out deposits in the system. Then turn off the engine and let it sit for 10-12 hours to allow the cleaning agent to fully react with the scale. 3. Restart the engine, run it at medium speed for 5-10 minutes, then turn it off and drain the cleaning agent while it is still hot. 4. Replace with clean water and continue flushing two or three times until the discharged water is free of contaminants. 5. Reinstall the thermostat, and the descaling process is complete.
