How to Clean a Dirty Gas Tank?

Open the fuel tank drain valve and drain all the remaining fuel. Then, close both the drain valve and the fuel supply valve. Remove the fuel tank cap, fuel filter screen, and dipstick. Connect the air pump hose to the spray pipe and insert it deep into the bottom of the fuel tank. Use high-speed airflow to flush the bottom oil layer of the tank, thoroughly cleaning the interior. Close the air reservoir valve, remove the spray pipe, and drain all the cleaning oil from the tank. Add another 15-30L of clean fuel and repeat the cleaning process as described above. After cleaning is complete, drain the cleaning fuel and reinstall the fuel filter screen, dipstick, and fuel tank cap. This completes the fuel tank cleaning process.
I found cleaning the fuel tank quite simple, as it's a job you can do yourself to save costs. First, make sure the vehicle is turned off and parked in a well-ventilated area to avoid safety risks. You can use a fuel pump to suck out the old fuel, along with any dirt like sludge or impurities. After that, buy some fuel tank cleaner, pour it in, and run the engine for a few minutes to let it circulate and flush the system. If you're worried it's not thorough enough, get a helper to gently shake the car to aid the flow. Every time I finish, I top it off with fresh gasoline, and the car runs smoother while also preventing future carbon buildup from affecting the engine. Regular treatment like this keeps the tank much cleaner, especially for older cars—maintenance is crucial and shouldn't be overlooked. After all, a clogged fuel system makes driving uncomfortable and can also improve fuel efficiency, saving you some money on gas.
