Method to check the remaining fuel gauge bars on the Roewe i5: The fuel gauge of the Roewe i5 is integrated into the car's tachometer, located directly at the bottom of the tachometer. 'F' indicates a full tank, while 'E' means the tank is empty. The Roewe i5 is developed and produced by SAIC Motor, positioned as a compact car with a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. In terms of dimensions, the Roewe i5 measures 4601mm in length, 1818mm in width, and 1489mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2680mm. Exterior-wise, the Roewe i5 Linghao edition features the brand's signature rhythmic floating wing grille design, paired with rectangular headlight clusters and a trapezoidal air intake below. The side profile showcases a dual waistline design, while the rear incorporates a subtle ducktail spoiler. Additionally, all models come with a limited-time free upgrade to headlights.

On the left side of my Roewe i5's dashboard, there is a fuel gauge divided vertically into 4 large segments, with a small tick mark in the middle of each segment. A few seconds after starting the car, the needle will point to the corresponding position. For example, if there are 3 segments left, it means roughly three-quarters of a tank of fuel. I usually refuel when only the last segment remains, as experienced drivers know that the fuel pump relies on gasoline for cooling, and prolonged low fuel levels can damage the car. When the needle approaches the red 'E' mark, it's time to refuel immediately. The fuel warning light in this car is quite sensitive, turning yellow when there are about 6 liters left. Actually, the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel can switch to display the digital range, which is more accurate.

There's a button on top of the control lever on the left side of the steering wheel. Press it three times to switch to the digital fuel level display. Last week on the highway, I suddenly noticed the gauge showed two bars left but the digital readout indicated 80 km remaining. Remember, when the fuel gauge reaches the red zone, there's only 8 liters left, and when the yellow fuel can light comes on, you should find a gas station immediately. Once I refueled with just one bar left and added 42 liters, which shows the car's 60-liter tank has reliable low-fuel warnings. Developing a habit of regularly checking the remaining range is safer, especially for long trips.

Look at the fuel pump icon on the right side of the fuel gauge, the vertical bars next to it indicate fuel levels. From my experience, four illuminated bars mean approximately 50 liters remaining, while three bars indicate around 30 liters left. When the yellow fuel can light comes on, it means only 6.5 liters remain, with a maximum range of 50 kilometers at this point. Roewe's digital instrument cluster is quite thoughtful—it automatically pops up nearby gas station addresses when running low on fuel. I often teach new car owners in my neighborhood to hold the return button on the right side of the steering wheel for 5 seconds to force-refresh the fuel display, which is especially useful when the dashboard fogs up or gives false readings.

The fuel gauge on the dashboard displays four stages. When the tank is full, all four bars glow blue. As fuel is consumed, three bars turn white. When only two bars remain, they flash white as a warning. The last bar turns yellow, indicating it's time to refuel immediately. Once, I drove into mountain roads with half a bar left, and suddenly the fuel warning turned red with beeping sounds, while the range display showed dashes. Fortunately, a roadside gas station came to the rescue. Later, I checked the manual and learned that the yellow low-fuel light can last for 60 kilometers, while the red light means only 15 kilometers remain, requiring immediate stopping.

I usually check the fuel level in three ways: glance at the left instrument gauge needle scale upon startup; press the menu button on the right side of the steering wheel to switch to 'remaining range' for a digital mileage reading; the most intuitive method is the three-color (blue/white/yellow) indicator on the fuel gauge. I've noticed that when it drops from three bars to two, the fuel depletes rapidly—this stage indicates only about 15 liters remain in the tank. Experienced drivers plan refueling when two bars are left. Remember, when the yellow fuel can light illuminates, it means the fuel level sensor is exposed. Continuing to drive like this risks damaging the fuel pump.
