The new Volvo XC60 features an electronic oil dipstick, which requires checking the oil level through the oil level option in the vehicle's computer menu. The older XC60 models use a traditional electronic dipstick. After turning off the engine, let it sit level for 15 minutes, then open the engine compartment to check the dipstick. The optimal oil level is between the lower and upper marks. At this point, the engine oil quantity is appropriate. More details are as follows: 1. Like conventional dipsticks, electronic oil dipsticks also have upper and lower limits marked. If the oil level is close to the lower limit, it doesn't indicate the oil quantity in the oil pan but merely shows that the oil level is approaching the minimum of the normal range. Driving under these conditions is fine, but the oil will continue to deplete over time until it reaches the bottom. 2. When the electronic oil dipstick shows a low reading, the actual oil level is just above the minimum required. Although the oil level is low, it remains within the normal range. If a maintenance service is scheduled soon, it can be safely ignored. 3. For conventional dipsticks, the first step after pulling it out is to wipe it clean, then reinsert and pull it out again. The oil level is acceptable as long as it is within the marked upper and lower limits. If it's above the upper limit, there's too much oil; if below the lower limit, there's too little. In vehicles, the dipstick is a commonly used tool to check the lubricant level. Since the dipstick insertion path has bends, the dipstick must be able to deform when inserted and rebound when pulled out. 4. The oil dipstick's function isn't limited to checking the engine oil level. Experienced drivers or mechanics can detect many engine operational dynamics by inspecting the dipstick, enabling quick reactions and accurate judgments, providing reliable information. Proper use of the oil dipstick plays a crucial role in extending the engine's lifespan.

Hey, let me tell you, I often check the oil level of my XC60 myself. First, you need to drive for a few minutes to warm up the engine, then find a flat spot to park and turn off the engine. Don't rush at this point—wait five to ten minutes to let all the oil flow back into the oil pan. Locate the dipstick with the yellow ring in the engine bay, pull it out, wipe it clean with a tissue, then fully reinsert it all the way back in. Pull it out again to check the level. The oil mark should be right between the MIN and MAX marks. If it's below MIN, you'll need to add some original 0W-20 oil. Remember, checking when the engine is cold isn't accurate—last time I rushed and ended up adding half a liter extra. The mechanic said during the service that too much oil is bad for the turbo.

What to Do When a Car Rolls Over?

Solutions for when a car rolls over: 1. Stay calm and avoid making fatal mistakes due to excessive panic; 2. Immediately turn off the engine to prevent hazards such as fire or explosion; 3. Adjust your position, unbuckle the seatbelt, and lower your body. If you cannot open the door, you can choose to break the side window to escape. When striking the side window, aim for the edges of the glass rather than the center; 4. After escaping, do not rush out of the car recklessly. First, observe the surroundings and ensure it is safe before exiting, especially on highways. Make sure to move outside the guardrail and stay as far away from the accident scene as possible to ensure your safety and avoid secondary accidents.

Can You Shift from D to S Gear While Driving an Automatic Car?

Automatic cars can shift from D to S gear while driving without the need to press the brake or come to a stop. The D gear is the drive gear, where the vehicle prioritizes comfort and fuel efficiency. The S gear is the sport mode, which focuses on high performance. When shifted into S gear, the transmission delays upshifting to allow the engine to deliver greater power. Situations where S gear is not suitable include: 1. High-speed driving is not ideal for S gear, as it is designed to downshift for acceleration, leading to mismatched speed and RPM, increased noise, and higher fuel consumption; 2. Coasting is not recommended in S gear, as it can cause significant wear and tear on the transmission in a short period.
