How to Check the Oil Level in a Xingyue?

First, open the hood by locating and pressing the hood release button. Then, find the oil dipstick. Note that there are several dipsticks in the engine compartment. Pull out the oil dipstick and wipe it clean with a cloth. Carefully observe the bottom of the dipstick, where there are two small markings: 'L' indicates the minimum oil level, and 'H' indicates the maximum oil level. After checking, wipe the oil off the dipstick to keep it clean and dry, then reinsert it.
I just bought a Xingyue, and checking the engine oil level regularly is crucial. First, park on a level surface, turn off the engine, and wait about ten minutes for it to cool down—oil expands when hot, leading to inaccurate readings. Then, open the hood, locate the small orange pull ring near the engine (that’s the oil dipstick), pull it out, wipe it clean with a paper towel, reinsert it all the way, and pull it out again to check the oil mark. The oil mark should be between the upper and lower markings on the dipstick. If it’s too low, you’ll need to add oil; if it’s too high, there might be an issue with the system. I make it a habit to check once a month to avoid breaking down on the road. If the oil level is insufficient, poor engine lubrication can damage components, and repairs can be costly. By the way, the Xingyue doesn’t have an electronic oil gauge, so manual checks are necessary—developing this habit is key.
As a car enthusiast, I found that the Xingyue's oil level check relies on a traditional dipstick. The method is simple: after the engine has completely cooled down, park on level ground without starting the vehicle. Locate the dipstick handle near the engine cylinder head, gently pull it out, wipe off the old oil residue, then fully reinsert and pull it back to check the oil mark position. If it falls between the Min and Max marks, the level is normal; too high might mean overfilling, which is wasteful and affects performance; too low means it's time to promptly top up with the appropriate 5W-30 oil. Some modern cars have electronic reminders, but the Xingyue lacks such advanced features—it's all about manual checks. Note the date each time you change the oil and check it roughly every 5,000 km to prevent carbon buildup and wear. It's also recommended to check the oil color while you're at it—blackened oil should be replaced.
