How to check the oil level in a 2017 A4L?

A4L does not have a dipstick. You can check it through the MMI display by pressing the car button and selecting the oil level. The conditions for checking are as follows: 1. The engine oil temperature must reach above 60 degrees (i.e., after running the car for more than 10 minutes). Turn off the engine, wait for 1 minute, then turn on the ignition to see it. On the display screen, press CAR to view. 2. If the vehicle is low on oil, an oil can-like icon will appear on the dashboard. If this icon does not appear during normal driving, it means no oil needs to be added. When adding oil, ensure the proper amount is used.
I really enjoy taking care of my 2017 Audi A4L, and checking the engine oil level is basic maintenance. The steps are quite simple: First, drive for a while to warm up the engine, then stop and turn off the engine, waiting for about 10 minutes to allow the oil to settle evenly. The car must be parked on level ground to avoid slope affecting the result. Then open the hood, find the yellow-marked dipstick—located near the front side of the engine—pull it out directly, wipe off the oil stains with a cloth, reinsert it into place for a few seconds, and finally slowly pull it out to check the oil level. Normally, the oil level should be between the minimum and maximum marks. If it's too low, the engine might burn out, so quickly top it up with the recommended full synthetic oil, such as 5W-40 grade. I keep a bottle in the trunk. Don’t forget to check it regularly every month or two, especially before long trips, to prevent major issues. Also, there’s an oil warning light on the dashboard—if it lights up, don’t delay in checking the cause.
When driving my Audi A4L 2017, I often find the oil check extremely practical. The method is straightforward: park on level ground, let the engine run for a few minutes, then turn it off and wait for it to cool down—about ten minutes is enough. Open the front hood, locate the oil dipstick with a round pull ring, usually in a noticeable yellow color, pull it out directly, wipe it clean, firmly push it back all the way in, then gently pull it out to see if the oil mark is in the middle of the indicator lines. If the oil level is low, pour some specified engine oil into the oil filler hole, but don’t overfill to avoid waste. I make it a habit to check every two to three months, especially during seasonal changes, as this car’s engine is precision-designed, and oil ensures lubrication and cooling. Here’s a tip: when buying oil, it’s best to choose OEM-certified 5W-40 types to avoid minor issues caused by aftermarket products. The whole process takes just three to five minutes—safe and hassle-free.
