How to Check the Mileage on a Motorcycle?

125 motorcycle's total mileage is displayed on the odometer dial. The longer dial on the odometer shows the total mileage. The shorter one below displays the trip mileage. Four-stroke motorcycles consume much less fuel, with one liter of gasoline capable of running 70 kilometers.
I've been repairing motorcycles for over a decade, and the simplest method is to directly check the dashboard - the digitally displayed number is the total mileage. The dashboard is located in the center of the handlebars, with some models requiring button presses to switch display modes. You need to switch to ODO mode to see the total mileage. A special reminder for new owners: don't mistake the trip meter (TRIP) for the total mileage - my shop gets questions about this daily. Motorcycles with mechanical gauges are easier to read, featuring white-background black-number dial displays where the numbers are basically unmistakable. For digital screens, you need to know how to navigate the menu - different brands have different buttons: Yamaha uses SELECT, while Honda requires long-pressing ADJ. Also, be aware that motorcycles with tampered odometers will show jerky number movements - extra caution is needed when buying used bikes.
For us female riders, checking the mileage can be tricky with confusing buttons. Last time, my bestie struggled for ages after buying her new sports bike. Actually, just look closely at the small buttons on the bottom left or right of the instrument panel. A light press switches between TRIP A/B for temporary mileage, but you need to find the ODO display for the actual total kilometers. On my Kawasaki Ninja, I have to hold the RESET button for 3 seconds to show total mileage. If you really can't find it, check the manual - operations vary greatly between brands. Here's a fun fact: the trip meter automatically resets after reaching 1,000km, so don't panic thinking it's malfunctioning.
