How to Change the Transmission Fluid for Volkswagen Lavida?
1 Answers
Transmission fluid generally needs to be replaced every two years or 40,000 kilometers. The following are the steps for replacement: 1. Start the engine and wait until it reaches normal operating temperature; 2. Use a wrench to loosen the oil drain plug, place an oil pan to catch the old fluid until no more fluid flows out, then start the engine and let it run for 30 seconds to allow the fluid in the main oil passage to drain; 3. Use a special wrench to remove the oil filter; 4. Apply some new oil to the oil seal of the new oil filter and tighten it clockwise by hand; 5. Add the new oil through the oil filler cap on the engine valve cover, usually filling up to three-quarters of the oil container; 6. Start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes, then check for any leaks around the oil drain plug and oil filter, and repair if necessary; 7. After stopping the engine, pull out the oil dipstick to ensure the oil level is within the standard range.
