How to Brake a Motorcycle?
1 Answers
Motorcycles have two braking methods, namely hand brake and foot brake. More information about motorcycle braking is as follows: 1. Usage Method: Both the front and rear wheels of a motorcycle have brakes. The motorcyclist activates the front brake using the handle on the right handlebar and the rear brake using the right foot pedal. Drum brakes were commonly used before the 1970s, but most motorcycles now use disc brakes. 2. Principle: Disc brakes consist of a steel brake disc connected to the wheel and brake pads sandwiched in between. When a motorcyclist operates a brake, hydraulic pressure controlled by the brake line causes the brake pads to squeeze both sides of the brake disc. Friction causes the brake disc and the connected wheel to slow down or stop. Since repeated use wears down their surfaces, the brake pads must be replaced regularly.
