How to Apply for Car Scrapping?

Private car scrapping standards: For 5-seat family cars and 7-seat SUVs, non-commercial small and micro vehicles have no usage period limit. When the normal mileage reaches 600,000 kilometers, the state will guide scrapping. In addition to the above vehicles, small and micro non-commercial passenger cars, large non-commercial cars, and wheeled special machinery vehicles also have no usage period limit. Guided scrapping is recommended scrapping, but if the vehicle still meets the requirements for continued use, it does not have to be scrapped. There are 4 standards for mandatory scrapping: Reaching the prescribed usage period; After repair and adjustment, it still does not meet the national standards for in-use vehicle safety technical requirements; After repair and adjustment or the adoption of control technology, the emission of pollutants or noise into the atmosphere still does not meet the national standards for in-use vehicle requirements; Failing to obtain the motor vehicle inspection qualification mark for three consecutive motor vehicle inspection cycles after the expiration of the inspection validity period.
Not long ago, I just scrapped my old car, and the process was actually quite simple. First, go to the vehicle management office to register the scrapping application. You need to bring your ID card, vehicle registration certificate, and driving license. After filling out the application form, they will check the vehicle's status to confirm there are no traffic violation records or mortgage issues. Then, hand over the car to a certified recycling company. The staff will verify the VIN and engine number on-site and proceed to cut and destroy the vehicle immediately. You can usually obtain the scrapping certificate in about three days. Finally, take this certificate back to the vehicle management office to complete the deregistration procedures. Make sure to choose a qualified recycling point, as failing to do so might affect your subsidy application later. The entire process took me over half a month to complete.
